Using the Text Tool

On the Tools toolbar is the Text tool image\Icon_Object_Text.jpg. Use this tool if you want to add a Text box to any page or Master Page in your publication and type directly into it.

Note:
If you already have your text saved in a text file, use the Import Text tool instead of the Text tool. Alternatively, if you want text in a Text box to be updated from an external file, use the option in the Text tab of the object’s Properties dialog box – updating a Text box from an external file.

To add your text to a Text box:

  1. Draw a Text object on the page as described in Adding Objects to a Page.

  2. Click inside the Text box. The I-beam cursor will begin flashing inside the box.

  3. Start typing your text into the text box.

Note:
Text objects contain two extra tabs in their Properties dialog box: the Text tab which contains specific options related to Text objects; the Input Text tab that allows you to convert a standard text box to an input box so that users can type information into it, which is then saved in a variable for later use.
