Text tab

The Text tab in the Properties dialog box will only appear in the dialog for Text objects and Button objects. The options available in this tab are different from the standard formatting features in the Format toolbar. This tab allows you to specify the position of the text within the Text object’s bounding box and how much to display at a given time.

To edit the Text tab settings:

  1. Click on the down button beside the Vertical Alignment box to arrange the text inside the bounding box of the Text object. By default text is aligned to the top of the box.

  2. Use the Margins panel to set the margins on all four sides of the Text object.

Note:
Being able to set the margin on all sides of the text box is useful – especially if you have added a scrollbar to the side of the box because you can offset the text from the scrollbar.

If you want a paragraph in your text to have different settings from surrounding paragraphs in the Text object – see Paragraph dialog for Text objects for more information.

  1. Use the Anti-aliasing panel to control the anti-aliasing feature for text. There are four options available: None, Auto, Level 1 and Level 2. By default, Level 1 is the preferred setting – see Choosing your Anti-aliasing option for Text for more information. This option is not available for Flex publications where it is replaced by other text settings - only a single quality setting is available by selecting the Flash Type option.

Note:
Changing this option will only affect this individual Text object. If you want to change the setting for all Text options, use the Default Font page in the Options dialog – see Default Font page for more information.

  1. If you want to change how the text appears inside the bounding box of the text object, click on one or more of the following options:

Display one section/paragraph at a time

Do not display partial lines

Note:
The partial lines option is a special feature of Opus, which makes it easy to divide your text up into readable chunks. People are less familiar with reading large amounts of text on the screen so it can work a lot better if you display the text one paragraph at a time and press a key, or move the scrollbar, to show the next paragraph in the same location.

  1. If you want the Text object to display text that is updated after the publication has been published as a stand-alone publication, click on the Automatically read in this disk file option.

  2. If you want to change one of the Text Effect Styles, click on the drop down button beside the effect style you want to change and select a new style or press the Customise button to create your own style.

  3. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
