Editing Text Effect Styles

Opus automatically applies a Text Effect Style for hypertext. You can select a different style for a Text object and even create new styles and remove or edit existing ones in the Text Effects Styles dialog box.

To select a different Text Effect Style:

  1. Double-click on the Text object containing the hypertext link you want to change the Text Effect Style for. This will open the object’s Properties dialog.

  2. Select the Text tab in the Properties dialog if it is not already open.

  3. Click on the down arrow beside the text style you want to change, and then select a new style from the list.

  4. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.

Note:
The new text effect style chosen will affect all hypertext links in the selected Text object.

To edit a Text Effect Style:

  1. Double-click on the Text object containing the hypertext link you want to change the Text Effect Style for. This will open the object’s Properties dialog.

  2. Select the Text tab in the Properties dialog if it is not already open, then select the text style you want to edit.

  3. Click on the Customise button. This will open the Text Effects Styles dialog box.

  4. If you want to modify the selected text style, click the options you wish to be modified for the selected text style.

Note:
The key thing to note here is that the settings on this dialog are not absolute text formatting but how the existing text formatting is to be modified for these styles. This is why many of the settings will be blank or have a greyed checkmark. Both of these mean that the current text formatting will be preserved in this respect. Thus if you do not specify a font style or size the current font style will be used. The drop down colour wells also have the option As Is which allows you to keep that setting as it currently stands.

  1. If you want to create a new style, click the New Style button, then click the options you wish to be modified for the new text style. The new style will be given a default name that you can edit if preferred.

  2. If you want to remove the selected text style, click on the Remove Style button.

  3. Click on the OK button to save the changes or Cancel to abort. The dialog box will close and you will be returned to the Text tab in the Properties dialog box.
