Creating Hypertext

Any word or phrase in a Text object can be converted to a hypertext link. You can set up a list of actions that the hypertext link will perform when a user clicks on it.

To add a hypertext link:

  1. Select or create a Text box on the page that contains the word or phrase you want to use as hypertext.

  2. Click inside the Text box. The I-beam cursor will appear in the box.

  3. Highlight the word or phrase that you want to use as hypertext.

  4. Right-click to open the right-click menu and select the Create Hypertext option. Alternatively, click the Text menu, and then select the Create Hypertext option. This will open the Actions dialog box for the hypertext text action.

Note:
If you type a URL into a Text object, Opus will automatically create the hypertext link for you.

  1. Add your action (or actions) to the hypertext text action.

  2. Click on the Apply button to save your changes. Notice that the text style changes, to indicate that the word or phrase is now a piece of hypertext.

Note:
A Text object can contain as many hypertext links as you want. Each word or phrase that is converted to a hypertext link can have a separate list of actions running.

Opus automatically underlines hypertext links and changes the colour of the text. Also, when a user clicks on the link or once they have visited a link the colour of the text changes. You can edit these Hypertext Styles in the Text tab of the object’s Properties dialog.
