Open Existing Galleries

Opus provides a variety of Component Galleries that you can open in the Opus Editor. Each gallery is designed for different types of publications you might want to create, such as, presentations, web template, video player, etc.

The galleries contain a variety of components – they may include complete pages that you can add to your publication or individual components, such as buttons or images; or a component made up of a group of objects like a video player.

The Component Galleries provided are all in the Galleries folder – a sub folder of the folder in which Opus was installed. The gallery itself has file type of .GLY, for example, the Business gallery’s filename is Business Vectors.gly. Each gallery in the Galleries folder has its own folder containing the gallery file (i.e. the .GLY file) and also a Gallery Resources folder – this resource folder contains the consolidated resources.

Note:
The instructions below can also be used to open your own Component Galleries – to create your own galleries, see Creating New Galleries for more information.

The Scratch Pad gallery is a special temporary gallery where you can store things while you work on your publication. Anything in this gallery will be lost when you close your publication.

Open an Existing Gallery:

  1. Select Open Gallery… from the Components menu at the top of the Opus Editor – this will open the Windows Open dialog. All the galleries created by Opus are held in a sub folder named Galleries of the Opus folder (i.e. the folder in which Opus was installed on your system, this is normally found in the Program Files folder).

Note:
The pathname to the Galleries folder will most likely be: C:\Program Files\Opus Pro 9\Galleries

  1. In the Open dialog, locate the Galleries folder – this will contain a list of folders, one for each Component Gallery you can open in Opus. Open the appropriate folder and select the gallery filename – this is the file with the file type .GLY. Click the OK button in the Open dialog to open the gallery in Opus.

Note:
For example, if you want to open the Presentation 02 Gallery – open the Galleries folder, then open the Presentation 02 folder and then select the Presentation 02.gly file.

  1. The new gallery will appear in the Components tab of the Organiser.

  2. You can have several galleries open in Opus at the same time. The Gallery List at the top of the Components tab shows the current galleries open in Opus.

  3. The currently selected Gallery name is highlighted in grey and a small thumbnail for each component in the gallery is displayed.

  4. To add the component to the page, click on the thumbnail and drag it across to the screen – the arrow cursor will change to the image\Component_Drag_Cursor.jpg cursor. Release the mouse and the component will be added to the page in the same position as it appeared on the page it was made on. Existing galleries can have new components added to them before being closed. You can also rename existing galleries if you want to use some but not all the components in an existing gallery.
