Overview of Wizards in Opus

Opus provides a variety of step-by-step guides called wizards to help you when building your publication. These can be found at the following locations in the Opus Editor, with a brief description of when you would use them.

The Tools Menu:

  1. Select the Tools menu at the top of the Opus Editor to open the following wizards.

  2. The Startup Wizard – this wizard will appear when you first enter the Opus Editor. This allows you to create a new publication; create a presentation based on an Opus template; or open an existing publication you have already created in the Opus Editor. You can also open the Startup wizard whenever you want to create a new publication.

  3. The Question Page Wizard – has now been replaced by the Question objects

  4. The Animation Wizard – allows you to create animation effects for objects on a page. You can create Bounce, Follow Path, Fades, Rotation, Scales and other Special Effects for objects which can then be re-edited in the Animation wizard or through the Actions Organiser for the animated object.

  5. The Distribution Wizard – allows you to create a standard Windows Setup program so that users can install a published version of your publication on their machine by following the Windows Setup program. The wizard can be launched after you have run the Published wizard.

  6. The Upload Wizard – allows you to create a publication for distribution over the Internet. The wizard can be launched after you have run the Published wizard.

  7. The CD-R Wizard – allows you to copy files to a CD-R or CD-RW without any additional software. The wizard can be launched after you have run the Published wizard.

The Publication Menu:

  1. Select the Publication menu at the top of the Opus Editor to open the Publishing Wizard.

  2. The Publish Wizard – allows you to create a program that runs independently of the Opus Editor environment. This is called Publishing and there are several ways you can publish your publication: Standalone (i.e. EXE file); Web (i.e. HTML file); Web Adobe Flash version (i.e. SWF file); and Screensaver (i.e. SCR file).

The Components Menu:

  1. Select the Components menu at the top of the Opus Editor to open the New Gallery Wizard.

  2. The New Gallery Wizard – allows you to create a new Component Gallery with your own components. This is particularly useful if you are working on several publications that have a similar theme.

Wizard Mode:

  1. The Tools menu at the top of the Opus Editor also provides a Wizard Mode option.

  2. The Wizard Mode – allows you to select if the Startup wizard will open whenever you create a new publication in the Opus Editor.

  3. If the Wizard Mode option is OFF image\Icon_Wizard_Mode.jpg, the Startup wizard will NOT open whenever you create a new publication in the Opus Editor.

  4. If the Wizard Mode option is ON the Startup wizard WILL open whenever you create a new publication in the Opus Editor.
