Single vs. Multiple Bookmarks

The Bookmarks feature in Opus can be used in one of two modes: Single Bookmarks and Multiple Bookmarks.

Single Bookmarks:

Single Bookmarks are often used in e-Learning and training publications so that the next time the user enters the publication they will be returned to the last page they were on when they last exited.

In this mode, only the last Set Bookmark action is stored by Opus – (see Creating Bookmarks for more information).

Note:
When you first create an Opus publication the Bookmark feature is automatically set to Single Bookmark mode.

Multiple Bookmarks:

Multiple Bookmarks allow the user to bookmark a number of pages within the publication. A Bookmarks dialog box allows the user to choose which of these bookmarked pages they would like to re-visit. You could think of Multiple Bookmarks like saving favourite pages within an Internet browser application that you can quickly navigate to at any time.

In this mode, the Set Bookmark action will add a new bookmark to the Bookmark dialog box.

Setting up Multiple bookmarks in a publication:

  1. Select the Publication Properties option from the Publication menu. This will open the Publication Properties dialog box.

  2. Click the General 2 tab to open the general settings information. If the tab you require is not visible, use the scroll arrows image\Tabs_Scroll_Arrows.jpg to the right of the tabs to scroll the tabs left or right as required.

  3. Click the Use Multiple Bookmarks option if you want this publication to use Multiple Bookmarks.

  4. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.

  5. Click on the OK button to close the Properties dialog box.
