Resource Manager Toolbar

The Resource Manager window contains one Resource toolbar:

The Resource toolbar contains the management tools that allow you to manage the resources within your publication. Some of the buttons (especially the Management tools) on the toolbar will open new dialog boxes in which you can make various changes to the current settings for the selected resource.

The Resource toolbar can be split into four distinct groups of functions:

Each of these groups is described in detail below.

Note:
Each button on the toolbar has a tooltip, so if you linger over the button it will remind you what it does.

The Choose Tools:

1. The Choose tools control the options displayed in the Organiser and the resources displayed in the Resource pane to the right of the Organiser.

2. The Choose by folder button in Choose tools – will display all folders on your system that contain resources used in your publication.

3. The Choose by page button in Choose tools – will list all the pages in your publication in the Organiser. Selecting a page from the list will display all the resources used in the page in the Resource pane.

4. The Choose by chapter button in Choose tools – will list all the chapters in your publication in the Organiser. Selecting a chapter from the list will display all the resources used in the chapter in the Resource pane.

5. The Choose by component button in Choose tools – is greyed-out until you select a Component Gallery from the Page Organiser in the Opus Editor. When you have selected a Component Gallery, this option will be enabled.

The Show tools:

1. The Show tools control the resources displayed in the Resource pane to the right of the Organiser.

2. The Show Resources In Subfolders button in Show tools – will display all the resources in the currently selected folder in the Organiser as well as resources in its sub folders. If the button is indented, then the option has been selected.

3. The Show All Uses button in Show tools – a resource can be used more than once in the same publication, the Resource pane will show each instance a resource has been used. If you do not want to see every instance of a resource, make sure the button is not indented.

4. The Filter Resources button in Show tools – will open the Filter Resources dialog box in which you can select the type of resources to display in the Resource pane, such as all files, missing files, present files or specific file types – see Filter Resource dialog for more information.

The Management tools:

1. The Management tools offer a variety of dialog windows in which you can move, update, consolidate resources, and much more.

2. The Set\Clear Resources button in Management tools – will open the Set\Clear Resources dialog in which you can clear specific resources from the publication or set resources to a file – see Set\Clear Resource dialog for more information.

3. The Consolidate Resources button in Management tools – will open the Consolidate Resources dialog in which you can copy all or some of the resources in the publication into a Resource folder – see Consolidate Resources dialog for more information.

4. The Change Resource Path button in Management tools – will open the Change Data Path dialog in which you can move resources from one folder to another – see Change Data Path dialog for more information.

5. The Purge Resources button in Management tools – will open the Purge Resources dialog in which you can remove resources from a publication that are not currently used or create a purge list to select individual resources that you may want to remove at a later time – see Purge Resources dialog for more information.

6. The Rebuild Resources button in Management tools – will instantly update the Resource Manager window. For larger publications this may take some time.

7. The Publish Location button in Management tools – will open the Publish Options dialog in which you can change a variety of publishing settings, such as the location of the publication, image and file compression – see Publish Options dialog for more information.

The Undo/Redo tools:

1. The Undo/Redo tools allow you to undo or redo any operation you perform within the Resource Manager.

2. The Undo button in the Undo/Redo tools – will undo the last operation you performed in the Resource Manager.

3. The Redo button in the Undo/Redo tools – will reinstate the last operation you performed and then decided to undo.

4. The Undo and Redo buttons keep a history of the actions you have performed in the Resource Manager window, which means you can undo not only your last action, but every action you performed, if required.
