Change Data Paths dialog

The Change Data Paths dialog is used to quickly change the data drive for resources. Some users will want to access their publication on different network drives, or colleagues may work on them on different workstations.

Using the Change Data Paths dialog:

  1. Use the To this location box to type the new pathname to the folder where the resources may be found. Alternatively, click on the Browse… button to open the Browse for Folder dialog in which you can locate the folder to which the resources should be stored.

Note:
The current location of the Resource folder is displayed in the Remap Resources at this location box.

  1. Use the Apply To panel to set which resource will be added to the new Resource folder when you press the OK button (point 8 below). Normally, all resources are remapped to the new location (i.e. new Resource folder) when you change data paths (point 1 above). However, you may want to choose specific resource files that you want to remap (see points 3 to 7 below).

  2. Use the All Resources option in the Apply To panel if you want to remap all the resources currently in your publication.

  3. Use the Resource Folders Selected in Tree option in the Apply To panel if you want to remap all resources in the folder currently selected in the Organiser of the Resource Manager window.

Note:
Tick the Apply to Sub Folders option if you want to remap all of the resources in any sub-folders of the currently selected folder.

  1. Use the Resources in the selected pages/chapter/components option in the Apply To panel if you want to remap all resources in pages, chapters or components that are currently selected in the Organiser of the Resource Manager window.

Note:
This option is only available when you have displayed resources using the Choose By Page, Choose By Chapter or Choose By Component button in the Choose toolbar – see Resource Manager Toolbar for more information.

  1. Use the Resources Selected in List option in the Apply To panel if you want to remap the resources that have been selected in the Resource pane of the Resource Manager window.

Note:
In the Resource pane, hold down the Shift key as you select the top and bottom name in the Filename column if you want to include a range of resources. Alternatively, hold down the Ctrl key if you want to select individual resources in the Resource pane.

  1. Use the Use Filter option if you want to further refine the list of resources that will be remapped. This will apply the current filter set in the Filter Resources dialog.

Note:
If you have not yet created the filter, click the Set Filter button to open the Filter Resources dialog – see Filter Resources dialog for more information.

  1. Click the OK button to save your changes and to start the Change Data Paths in motion.
