Publish Settings: Advanced tab

The Advanced Settings tab in the Publishing Settings dialog allows you to specify a directory in which files are stored during the processing of the publication and the provision for an alternate address for the Plexus plug-in when creating a Web publication.

To edit the Advanced Settings:

  1. Tick the Temporary Directory option if you want to specify a directory in which temporary files are stored during the publishing process. Click on the button to open the Windows Browse for Folder directory and locate the folder in which you want to store the files. The pathname to the folder will be displayed in the box under this option. Alternatively, you can type the pathname directly into the box.

Note:
The files will only remain in the folder during the publishing process and will be removed when it is completed.

  1. Tick the Plug-in Path option if you want to enter an alternate address from which the Plexus Plug-in can be downloaded. This is particularly useful if your Web publication is working on an Intranet protected by a firewall or if you intend to distribute the publication on a CD-ROM in which case the Plexus Plug-in could also be on the CD. Click on the button to open the Windows Browse for Folder dialog and locate the folder in which the Plexus Plug-in is stored. The pathname of the URL is displayed in the box under this option. Alternatively, you can type the pathname directly into the box.

Note:
This option is to be used when you create a Web publication. The URL must begin with http:// or ftp:// if the plug-in is to be downloaded from the Intranet or file:// if it is on a network or CD-ROM.

If this option is not ticked, the Plexus Plug-in is downloaded from the Digital Workshop web site when the user runs the publication – it only needs to be downloaded once on a users machine and not every time the user runs a Web publication.

  1. Make your changes to the other tabs in the Publish Settings dialog, then click the OK button to close the dialog and return to the third page of the Publish Wizard to start publishing.
