Introduction to Publication Layout

Opus allows you full control of the layout of objects on your page. Objects can be placed wherever you wish, even partially off the page if required. Objects may even be placed completely off the page to be animated on later. In the editor you will need to hold down the Ctrl key when moving objects to allow them to move off the page.

This versatility can mean you are spoilt for choice but Opus provides a number of ready-made templates in several categories to get you started. These templates take the form of a Master Style page and content templates that provide the key objects in various combinations.

The Master Style page has the key elements of the design of your page – usually a stylish background graphic, together with any key objects you want on all pages such as a space for a company logo.

The templates contain the bullet points, text boxes and video panels.

As with any page the layout of both the Master Style page and any pages you create from the templates can be edited if you want or you can add a blank page and add your own objects from scratch.

Opus provides a wide range of functions to help make your layout easier to create, such as a grid to lock objects in position relative to each other and alignment commands to make objects line up neatly.

Multiple Panels

You can also choose to arrange different chapters of your publication in different panels so that you publication is comprised of multiple windows. This can be useful by using one panel to display a menu and then another to display the content for the selected option.
