Resizing Objects

You can resize objects you have created on the page by selecting the object you wish to amend. The box will be surrounded by a bounding box, click on one of the resize handles to change the size of the object.

Note that vector objects are resized with their bounding boxes, but in other cases only the bounding box changes. Thus if you resize a frame it does not resize all the objects within that frame. If you wish to resize objects and their contents you can use the Resize Mode or the Scale Tool.

Resizing an object:

  1. Select the object you want to resize on the current page displayed in the work area. The bounding box will surround the object.

  2. Keep the mouse button down and drag the resizing handle in the direction you want to change the object’s size. The handles at the sides will let you resize the object horizontally; the handles at the top and the bottom will let you resize the object vertically.

Note:
If the grid option image\Icon_Grid_Off.jpg is on the size of the object will jump to the next grid position.

  1. If you press the Alt key down while using the resize handles in the corner, the object will retain its current aspect ratio.

  2. If the grid option is off image\Icon_Grid_Off.jpgand you press the Shift key while resizing, this will restrict the resizing to the grid positions.

  3. If the grid option is onimage\Icon_Grid_On.jpgand you press the Shift key while resizing, the grid positions are ignored.

  4. The size of the object is displayed in the status bar as you move.

  5. Release the mouse button when the bounding box is the required size and the object will resize to those dimensions.

Note:
You can also edit the size of the object via the Size panel on the General tab of the Properties dialog for the object.

Image objects are automatically set to fit the size of the bounding box. In the Arrange menu are two special resize options: the Fit to Contents option displays the image at its original size and fits the bounding box to it; the Fit to Current Size option fits the bounding box around the image at the size it is currently displayed on screen.
