Scaling Objects

It is now possible to interactively scale an object from the editor with the Scale Selection mode of the Selector tool.

Note:
When working with objects that have been scaled (rather than resized) the size shown in the object properties and the status bar will always reflect the actual size of the object. For example, if you have a button which is 60 by 30 pixels and you scale it to 200% of the original size it will appear visually as 120 by 60 pixels. However the original underlying object is still 60 by 30.

To interactively scale an object

  1. Make sure the current tool is the Selector tool.

  2. On the Tools toolbar, click the Scale Selection button image\Icon_Tool_Scale_Object.jpg. This switches the selector tool into scale mode

  3. Select objects in the normal way by clicking on them and then use the resize handles to adjust the scale.

Note:
In Scale Selection mode you are changing the current scale factor for the object; not changing the original size.

  1. Remember to click the Scale Selection button on the Tools toolbar again when you have finished scaling objects.

Note:
The Scale Selection will be automatically cleared when any other tool is selected. This is to help prevent any confusion over whether an object is being sized or scaled.

To scale an object via its properties

  1. Select the object whose scale you want to alter.

  2. Bring up the object’s Properties dialog box and click on the Effects tab.

  3. Click the box next to the Stretch option to enable the stretch (scale) effect for this object.

  4. If you want to stretch the object Horizontally, Vertically or both, use the spin buttons beside the option to increase or decrease the amount of stretch. By default both options are set to 100%, (their original size).

  5. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
