the Tabs tab for Text Objects

The Tabs dialog allows you to set the style and position for the tabs in a paragraph

When you have added a Text object to a page and it contains several paragraphs, you may also want to set different tabs for each one by selecting the specific piece of text using the I-beam cursor but note that the kerning option applies to the whole text object.

You can also access the paragraph settings and the font settings for the text from this dialog. It will remain open while you make and apply the amendments you need.

Note:
If you do not set specific tabs the default tab spacing of 35 pixels will be used or you can set this default as below.

Using the Tabs dialog:

  1. Select the paragraph in the Text object you want to adjust the tabs for. Make sure the I-beam cursor is flashing somewhere inside the paragraph you want to adjust.

  2. Select Tabs… from the Text menu at the top of the Opus Editor or click the Tabs… button on the Text tab of the Properties dialog – this will open the Tabs dialog.

  3. Use the Default setting to set a regular spacing for the tabs. This will be used if you set no other tabs or if you use tabs beyond those you have set with custom spacing. Use the spin buttons to set the amount of the default spacing or type the value into the box. All these tabs will be left aligned.

  4. To set tabs at specific places use the spin buttons to set the Position or type the value you want into the box. This is the number of pixels from the lefthand edge of the text object.

  5. Click one of the Alignment radio buttons to set the type of tab you want at this position.

  6. Click the Set button to apply this setting.

  7. Repeat for as many custom tab settings as you require.

  8. To change the alignment of an existing tab simply select it in the list of tab positions and press the alignment option you want to apply.

  9. To change the position of an existing tab you should remove it (see step 10 below) and set a new tab at the new position

  10. To remove a tab you have set simply select the tab in questions in the list of tab positions and then use the Remove button to delete it

  11. Use the Remove All button to remove all your custom tab settings.

  12. Click the OK button to apply your changes.
