Create Pages from Menu

The Create Pages from Menu option in the QuickBuild menu allows you to select objects on a page in your publication and automatically generate a new page for each object as well as a link from the object to the page, for example:

Example 1: Objects selected

Example 2: Create Pages from Menu option will create a new page for each object

In the illustration above, the five objects on the Main Menu page have been selected (Example 1); the Create Pages from Menu option is applied and creates a new page for each object you have selected (Example 2). Each object on the Main Menu page will contain a Left Mouse Clicktrigger and a Go to Pageaction that will go to the corresponding page.

This option is a shortcut method for creating new pages for objects on a single page, such as a menu – all of the links are created for you. Once you have the new pages you can change them to fit the style of your publication, just like any other page.

Using the Create Pages from Menu feature:

  1. Select the objects on a page in the Objects tab of the Page Organiser from which you want to create new pages – the objects will be highlighted in blue.

Note:
Hold down the Shift key as you select the top and bottom object name if you want to include a range of objects on the page. Alternatively, hold down the Ctrl key if you want to select individual objects in the Page Organiser.

  1. Select the Multiple Objects option in the QuickBuild menu then the Create Pages from Menu option – this will automatically create a new page for each object selected in step 1 above (see Example 2 above).

Note:
You can only select objects from a single page at a time and the new pages will always be added below the page the selected objects are on.

  1. The new pages created are blank, you can edit the look of the page and add objects to it, just like any other page in your publication.

  2. Each selected object (step 1 above) on the original page has a Left Mouse Click trigger and a Go to Page action added to it. When the user runs the publication, the page will appear when the object is pressed. You can add other actins to the object as you would with any other object.

  3. You can repeat steps 1 to 4 above to create new pages for other objects on the current page or any new page within your publication.

Note:
It may be useful to create new pages using the Create Pages from Menu option whenever you add new sub-menus to your publication.

Note:
Remember, the objects you select must be from the same page in the publication.

There is also a Create Menu Page option in the QuickBuild menu that does the reverse of Create Pages from Menu – see Create Menu Page for more information.
