Overview of Page Properties

Every page added to a publication has its own Page Properties dialog box. Many of the tabs in the Page Properties dialog are the same as an object’s Properties dialog and work in exactly the same way e.g. Background, Image, Border and Transitions tabs. These are used to set the appearance of the page – the Texture tab allows you to add a special effect to the page to give it the appearance of texture, such as a paper or plastic quality.

Other tabs in the Page Properties dialog control the use of objects on the page, for example:

            1. the Variables tab contains a list of the Pagevariables used on this page – you can add new page variables or remove/edit existing Page variables;

            2. the Additional Resources tab allows you to add extra resources to your publication that will be referred to in an OpusScript program;

            3. the General tab allows you to create an index of search words based on the Text objects on the page.

The General tab also allows you to control when a page appears or hides. Normally objects on the page decide when another page in a publication is displayed, such as a user clicking a button to move forward. However, if you are creating a rolling-demonstration that involves no user-interaction to move from one page to another, you can set this up in the General tab; alternatively, objects on the page involving user-interaction can determine when a page appears or hides (e.g. such as clicking buttons to open new pages).

Note:
When a page is first displayed any properties set in the Page Properties dialog are run before objects on the page (e.g. a Page On transition is done before an On Show transition for objects on the page). Equally, actions set in the page Actions dialog are run before actions in an object’s Actions dialog.

To open the Page Properties dialog:

  1. Double-click with the left mouse button on a blank space of the page opened in the Opus Editor workspace – this will open the Page Properties dialog.

  2. Alternatively, click the name of the page in the Objects tab of the Organiser and press Ctrl+R to open the Page Properties dialog.

  3. Click the Tab heading in the Page Properties dialog that you want to change, then make your changes and click on the Apply button to save your changes.

  4. If the Tab heading you require is not visible in the Page Properties dialog, use the image\Tabs_Scroll_Arrows.jpg arrows to the right of the dialog to locate the tab.

Moving Between Property Dialogs

A small toolbar is now provided in the bottom left of all Property dialogs which allows you to quickly move between different levels of Property dialogs without using the menu. Thus you can jump from Page to Chapter or Publication Properties. Or you can move around the objects in the Organiser without leaving the Properties dialog.
