Compression Tab for Opus Flex

The Compression tab in the Publishing Settings dialog is for Opus Flex publications only. This allows you to set the compression levels for the published SWF file.

To edit the Compression tab settings:

  1. Tick the Compress the SWF option if you want to compress the published SWF file – this option requires Adobe Flash Player version 6.

  2. Use the Use JPEG compression option if you want to compress the images used in your publication. By default, Opus uses JPEG compression to reduce the size of the image files of your publication but this is a lossy compression technique which means that detail may be lost if the compression is too high.

  3. The Fonts panel allows you to select the type of characters that will be embedded in the published file. By default the Apply the same to all fonts option is selected – this is the recommended option. The Embed all characters option will embed all characters, which will increase the file size of your publication.

  4. Use the ADPCM Wave Compression Level panel to set the number of bits used per sample when compressing WAV files. The range is from 2 bits (most compression and lowest quality) to 5 bits (least compression and highest quality).

Note:
MP3 files are directly passed to the Adobe Flash Player and are not recompressed.

  1. Make your changes to the other tabs in the Publish Settings dialog, then click the OK button to close the dialog and return to the third page of the Publish Wizard to start publishing.
