General page (View)

The General page in the View folder of the Options dialog box allows you to specify various general aspects of the display as well as Tracker options.

To edit the View tab settings:

1. Click on Allow multiple page views in the General panel if you want to have more than one page open at a time.

2. Click on the Single mouse click in Organizer… option the General panel if you want to be able to click once on a thumbnail of a page in the Pages tab in the Organiser to open the page.

Note:
By default you have to double-click on a thumbnail in the Pages tab in order to open the page in the main window.

3. Click on the Scroll Automatically option the General panel if you want to automatically scroll the view of your page if you need to draw or resize an object further across the page than is currently on view. As the cursor reaches the edge of the window the page is scrolled so that more of it becomes visible.

4. Click on the Use Notes View option the General panel if you want the Notes View to automatically display at the bottom of each page.

Note:
If you un-tick this option the Notes View will not appear at the bottom of each page. At any time you can turn Notes View back on by ticking this option. Any notes you have previously entered in the Notes View for a page are saved and will re-appear when you turn this option back on.

The Notes View is only visible in the Opus Editor and will not appear when you preview or publish your publication.

5. Click on the Time Marker in preview option the General panel if you want the Event Timer to appear when you preview your publication.

6. Click on the Show initially hidden objects in exported page images option the General panel if you want Initially Hidden objects to appear on pages you export using the Exporting a page feature.

7. Use the Tooltip panel to set the Background and Text colour for a tooltip. Select the colour from the drop down colour well. Use the slider on the Transparency bar to set how much you can see through the tooltip.

8. Use the spin buttons beside the box in the Tracker panel to increase or decrease the size of the bounding box that appears around the objects when they are selected.

Note:
This also controls the size of the resizing handles. It can therefore be very useful for children or the people with disabilities in allowing the control areas to be greatly increased.

9. Click on the Show Objects Size option if you want to see the object details as you change it in the Opus Editor.

Note:
You may want to turn off this option if you feel this is slowing the editing process on slower machines.

10. Click on the down button in the Empty Object Label Mode panel to select the view of the object when it contains no content. Select from None, Classic and New display modes.

11. Click on the OK button to save your changes.
