Notes View

At the bottom of every page displayed in the Opus Editor is a secondary window with a set of tabs along the bottom. The first of these is the Notes View. Use the Notes View to store information about the page or to add speaker’s notes for your publication. The Notes View supports Rich Text Formatting (RTF) and can be printed out showing both the notes and a picture of the page.

Note:
The Notes View is only visible in the Opus Editor and will not appear when you preview or publish your publication.

Using the Notes View:

  1. If the Notes View section is not currently at the top, click the Notes tab to bring it to the front of the panel.

  2. Click inside the Notes View panel at the bottom of the page to add your notes. The cursor will change to the standard I-beam cursor and you can begin typing in your text.

  3. Text typed into the Notes View panel can be formatted like any other text. Use the Format toolbar to change the font style and size or make the text bold, italic or underlined. You can justify the text and make bulleted lists, as well as change the colour of the text.

Note:
Bulleted lists may be particularly useful if you are creating speaker’s notes that accompany each page. When you print the page, you can include the text in the Notes View on the printout.

  1. To resize the Notes View panel, click and drag on the splitter bar that separates the notes from the page. The Notes view can be made as large or small as you like, at any time you can resize the panel.

Turning off the Notes View

By default, the Notes View panel will always appear at the bottom of the page for every page displayed in the Opus editor. However, you can close the Notes View panel so the notes do not appear by changing an option in the Options dialog box.

Important Note:

Remember that hiding the Notes View will also hide the other elements of this window, most notably the timeline window for any tweens in the publication.

  1. To turn off the Notes View panel, click on the Tools menu then select Options. This will open the Options dialog box.

  2. Click on the View tab. This will open the View tab in the Options dialog box.

  3. Untick the Use Notes View option, to hide the Notes View panel in the Opus editor. Tick the option if you want to show the panel in the Opus editor.

Note:
When you hide the Notes View panel, the notes are not deleted, so if you show the Notes View again, the notes you have typed will reappear.
