Embedded Video

Many of your publications may include video that is copyright controlled. With Opus you can protect your MPG and AVI videos by embedding the video within your publication file. This means that the video file is compiled into the published publication file itself and does not appear as a separate file, which could be copied and used elsewhere. Embedding your MPG and AVI video’s means they can only be played in your publication and it protects your copyright.

By default, when you publish to a Standalone Publication, Web Publication or Screensaver with Opus, your MPG and AVI files are automatically embedded into the published file.

Note:
AVI files encoded with DivX and streaming video formats such as WMV and QuickTime files cannot be embedded into the published publication file.

Turning Embedded Video off:

1. You may create publication in which you do not want MPG and AVI files to be embedded in the published version. In this case, before you publish you should use the Location tab in the Publish Options dialog in the Resource Manager window to set the location of the video file when it is published.

2. Click on the Tools menu at the top of the Opus Editor and select Resource Manager – this will open the Resource Manager window.

3. Use the Organiser in the Resource Manager window to locate the folder containing your video or videos.

Note:
If you want to turn embedded video off for ALL videos in your publication, change the publish location for the folder, otherwise, select the videos in the Resource pane that you want exclude before setting up the options below.

4. Click on the Publish Location tool on the Management tools of the Resource Manager window – this will open the Publish Options dialog.

5. Use either the In the same location option or the External File option if you do NOT want to embed the video in your published file – see Publish Options dialog for more information.
