Creating the Tween

The process for creating a basic tween is:

  1. Add the object you wish to tween to the tween frame and position it as required. An initial keyframe is automatically created at the beginning of the timeline.

  2. If you do not want the object to appear from the beginning of the tween click and drag this first keyframe to the right to the frame marking the point at which you want it to appear.

  3. Add a second keyframe where you want the transformation of your object to complete. This might be the whole transformation or it may be part of it. When you want to do complex animation you may need to create tweens in several sections and thereby require several keyframes.

  4. Select the keyframe where you want to create the transformation. In most cases this will be the keyframe at the end but if you want to create a tween to transform the object into its current state then you will want to leave the object as it is at the end keyframe and edit the object at the start keyframe.

Tip:

To create a tween which transforms and then transforms back, create a keyframe in the middle of the tween and transform the object there, leaving the object untransformed at both the start and end.

  1. Once you have selected the relevant keyframe for the relevant object simply edit the object in the main editing window. You can resize, rotate and skew using the relevant object handles or you can use the Properties dialog to set the aspects of the object. Note that any properties which pertain to the bounding box of the object such as background and border cannot be tweened.

  2. Press the Page preview button to see how the animation looks and then edit the properties or move keyframes as appropriate to achieve the required result.
