Adding a Video

The Video tool allows you to create a live viewport for a video file.

On the Tools toolbar on the is the Video tool image\Icon_Object_QTVR.jpg. Use this tool if you want to add an movie object.

To add a movie to a page:

  1. Draw a Video object on the page as described in Adding Object to a Page. The object’s Properties dialog box will open showing the Video tab.

  2. Click on the Browse button to open the Windows Open File dialog box, which allows you to locate the movie you want to view.

  3. In the Display Options panel of the tab, select how you want to display the video in relation to the bounding box on the page containing it.

  4. Click on the Fixed option if you want the movie to start at the top left corner of the object’s bounding box. The image will be the same size as it was originally created.

Note:
You may need to resize the bounding box to show all of the video.

  1. Click on the Centred option if you want to centre the video in the bounding box.

  2. Click on the Scale to Fit option if you want to stretch the movie to fit the bounding box you have drawn. This will activate the Keep Aspect option (see next point).

Note:
If you change the size of the bounding box, the video will continually stretch to fit the new size of the box.

  1. Click on the Keep Aspect option if you want a video that has been set to Size to Fit to retain its shape and be un-stretched.

Note:
This option will keep a video in proportion (aspect ratio) and prevents the video looking stretched or out of shape.

  1. You can choose to set the video to play automatically as soon as it appears by selecting the Start Automatically option.

  2. You can chose to hide the video when it is not playing by checking the Display only when playing option. This is useful where the video has a start or end keyframe which is blank.

  3. There is an option to mute any audio in the video to allow alternative background music, narration or silence.

  4. If you want the video to return to the initial frame when it has finished playing you can select the option to Reset when end is reached.

  5. If you want to display a particular frame in the editor to remind you of the subject of the video the Display video in editor option allows you to set that point using the spin buttons to set the time at which the frame is displayed.

  6. You can also choose to play the video once or to repeat it a set number of times by setting the Play options.

  7. There are a number of different ways in which Opus can display video and these are set via the Video Type section at that bottom. You should not need to change this option unless you have trouble displaying a particular format in which case you should use this option to select Always On Top to ensure it plays in all circumstances – custom borders and effects will not work with On Top video playback. The other option is to disply the video re-rendered by Opus but that can be slower and increase file size.

  8. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
