Skewing Objects

You can skew (shear) objects on the current page displayed in the work area.

To skew an object:

  1. Click on the object to select it. A bounding box will surround the object.

  2. Move the cursor over one of the side resize handles. The cursor will change to the resize cursorimage\Cursor_Resize_Horiz.jpg surrounded by a grey arrow image\Cursor_Resize_Horiz_Skew.jpg

Note:
Using the side handles will skew an object vertically. Using the top and bottom handles will skew an object horizontally.

  1. Move the resize cursor over the grey arrow and cursor changes to a skew cursorimage\Cursor_Skew.jpg

  2. Click and hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to skew the object.

Note:
If you press the Shift key while skewing this will restrict the skew to the grid intervals, even if the grid is not on.

  1. Release the mouse when you have skewed the object to the correct position.

Note:
Using the method described above you can skew more than one object at a time. Instead of selecting a single object, hold down the Shift key as you select all the objects on the page that you want to skew. Then follow the instructions above. Each object will be skewed by the same amount.

If you want to skew an object by a specific percentage, use the Skew options in the General tab of the object’s Properties dialog box.

You can also align objects to the same angle as a previously skewed object using the Align Skew option in the Arrange menu.
