The Insert Characters option in the QuickBuild menu allows you to automatically add symbols and special characters to a Text object or a Button object on the current page. This is particularly useful when you want to add copyright or trademark symbols to a text box or button.
Click inside the Text object or Button object on the page in which you want to add a symbol or special character – the cursor will change to an I-beam cursor.
Move the I-beam cursor to the point where you want to add the symbol or character and then open the right-click menu and select the Insert Characters option from the QuickBuild menu – this will open the Insert Characters dialog box. By default, the font selected in the Font box is the current font used in the text or button.
Click on the down arrow next to the Font box to list all of the fonts installed on your computer. Select the font that contains the symbol or character you want to insert – this will display all of the characters and symbols for the font in the Font Grid.
Note:
Many special symbols are located in the Wingdings and Webdings fonts.
To add a single symbol or character from the grid, simply double-click the character or symbol you want to insert. Your selected choice is inserted at the point where the I-beam cursor is currently flashing in your text or button. The Insert Characters dialog box will automatically close.
Note:
Alternatively, you can select the character or symbol in the grid and press the Insert button – this will also add your choice to the current I-beam position and close the dialog.
To add more than one character at a time, select the first character in the grid and press the Select button. This will add your choice to the Characters to insert box. Then select your next choice from the grid and press the Select button again. Repeat this until you have selected all your choices, and then press the Insert button – this will add all the characters you have selected at the current I-beam position and close the dialog box.
Note:
If you select a different font from the Font box, the characters in the Characters to insert box will change to the new fonts characters.
Click on the Cancel button if you do not want to add a selection and want to close the Insert Characters dialog box.
