Browser tab

The Browser tab in the Properties dialog box will only appear in the dialog for Browser objects. This tab allows you to set the default URL for a web page that you want to view in the Browser object.

To edit the Browser tab settings:

  1. Use the Default Internet address box to enter the URL of the web page you want to initially appear in the Browser object. Click on the down arrow next to the box to list all of the URL’s previously entered in the Opus Editor. Alternatively, click on the Browse… button to locate the URL address.

Note:
You can also insert a variable in the box. As long as the variable contains a valid URL address, then the web page will work. For example, if you want to enter the variable named URL_Address in the box, surround the variable name with chevrons e.g. <URL_Address>.

  1. Tick the Automatically connect to the above address option in the Options panel if the web page to be displayed is on the Internet (i.e. not on a disk on your system). This will attempt to connect the user to the Internet.

  2. Tick the Show dialog allowing user of publication to sanction/cancel the connection option in the Options panel if you want the user to confirm that you can connect to the Internet on their system.

Note:
When the Browser object displays in the publication, a dialog box will appear on screen prompting the user to confirm if they sanction Opus to connecting to the Internet. The user can either sanction or cancel the connection.

  1. Tick the internal browser fails launch external browser option in the Options panel if you want the users Browser window to open as a separate window on their system if, for whatever reason, the Browser object on the page fails.

Note:
For example, if the Browser object fails to launch the file, Opus will open the users Browser window (e.g. Internet Explorer) in a new window on the desktop.

  1. Tick the Outline border option in the Appearance panel if you want the Browser object to have a black edged border on the page.

Do not tick this option if a border does not fit in with the style of your page. You cannot change the style of the border.

  1. Tick the Status bar option in the Appearance panel if you want a status bar to appear at the bottom of the Browser object.

The only other content the Browser object can have is a status bar, which will keep the user updated with the status of the connection to the Internet. We would recommend you keep the status bar on, so that your user knows what is going on.
