Open an existing publication

There are two ways to open publication in Opus depending on whether you are already running the program or just starting it up.

To open an existing publication when you start Opus :

  1. Selecting Open an existing publication option from the Startup wizard will open the Recent Files dialog – this dialog lists the most recently used publications you have opened in the Opus Editor.

  2. Click on the name of the publication in the File column of the Recent files list, then click the Open button – this will close the dialog and open the publication in the Opus Editor.

  3. Alternatively, if the publication you want to open does not appear in the list, click on the Browse… button to open the Open dialog used to locate the folder in which your publication was last saved. Locate the folder and click the Open button – this will close the dialog and open the publication in the Opus Editor.

  4. Click on the New button if you want to create a new blank publication – this will open the New Publication dialog described in option 1 above.

To open an existing publication when you are already working in Opus:

  1. Click the Open Publication button image\Icon_Open_Publication.jpg on the Main toolbar or select Open from the File menu.

  2. A standard Windows Open dialog will appear.

  3. Find the folder where the publication you want is located.

  4. Click on the filename of the publication to select it.

  5. Click the Open button.

Note:
If you open an Opus publication that was created on a previous version of Opus, for example an Opus Standard publication that you want to edit in Opus Pro – you will be prompted to save a backup of the publication before you try and open it in the newer version of Opus – see Backup Publication for more information.
