Backup Publication

You can create a backup of your publication as a ZIP file (i.e. a compressed file) that can be sent to other others users. The backup can also include the resource files if required.

To backup your publication:

  1. Click on the File menu, then select the Backup Publication option. This will open a warning dialog box on the screen.

Note:
The warning dialog box asks if you want to contain your resources in the zip file. Adding your resources could dramatically affect the size of the file but will ensure that the user will see the resources if they run the publication in the Opus Editor.

  1. Click on the Yes button if you want to add the resources. Click on the No button to not add the resources to the file. Clicking either button will open a new Save As dialog.

  2. The Save As dialog will provide a name for the zip file you are about to create. The name of the zip file is based on the filename of the publication, plus the current time and date. You can change the name if required.

Note:
The folder in which the zip file will be stored is the same as the folder in which your publication was created. Again, you can select a different folder to save the zip file if required.

  1. Click the OK button in the Save As dialog to create the backup.

Note:
You can open the backup file using a program, such as, WinZip to unzip the file.

If you open an Opus publication that was created on a previous version of Opus, for example an Opus standard publication that you want to edit in Opus Pro – you will also be prompted to save a backup of the publication (as described above) before you try and open it in the newer version of Opus.
