The Normal State

The Normal state icon appears in the Object States panel on the left-hand side of the Properties dialog box. The panel contains a list of states an object can have depending on the user’s interaction with the object.

The Normal state information:

  1. When you first create an object on a page, the default appearance of the object is the Normal state.

Note:
If you open the objects Properties dialog, the Object States panel on the left-hand side of the dialog will have the Normal icon highlighted.

  1. You can change the appearance of the object using the tabs in the object’s Properties dialog. For example, you can add a background colour to the object; add a border, transition, image or an effect to the object; you can also make the object a drag object and/or drop zone.

Note:
The full set of tabs will appear in the Properties dialog when the Normal state is selected.

  1. Anything you have set in the Properties dialog for the Normal state will be used by all the other states unless you specifically change them. For example, if you add an image to an object, the same image will appear when the user: moves the mouse over the object; clicks the object; or disables the object.

Note:
If you change the property for a different Object State this will override the Normal state. For example, if you add an image to the Normal state and a different image to the Mouse Over state, the image shown when the user moves the mouse over the image will be the one set in the Mouse Over state – however, if the user: clicks the object; moves the mouse off the image; or disables the object, the image shown will be the one set in the Normal state.
