The Button States

The Button states icons appear in the Object States panel on the left-hand side of the Properties dialog box for Button objects only. The panel contains a list of states an object can have depending on the user’s interaction with the object.

The Button states are:

The Button down state is used whenever a Button object is in the down position. This is useful when you have selected the Checkbox option in the Button tab of the Properties dialog.

The Mouse Over Down state is used whenever the user already has the left mouse button down as they move over the object. This is useful if you want to create simulations of a menu system. As a test, move the mouse over a menu in Opus and see what happens, then hold the left mouse button down as you move over a menu.

The Button DownDisabled state is used whenever a Button object is in the down position but the button has been disabled. This means you can have different appearances for when a button is disabled but not in a down position and when it is in a down position.

The Button states information:

  1. Only the Button object contains the Button states.

  2. The Button object also contains the Modified states.

  3. For the Button states, the Properties dialog will only contain the following tabs: Background, Button, Image, Border, Effects and Modify Text tab.

  4. If you change the property for a state (e.g. Button Down) it will override the Normal state.

  5. If you do NOT change the appearance for a state, the Normal state appearance is used.
