The Layer Palette

Layers can be manipulated in the Objects organiser view in the same way as other Opus objects. They can be reordered by dragging them up and down the Organiser tree.

In addition to this there is a dockable Layer palette which is dedicated to making layers simple to use. If the Layer Palette is not visible go to the View menu and select the Layer palette option.

Using the Layer palette

  1. Clicking on a layer name makes that layer the current active layer. It is only possible to select and edit objects that are on the current layer.

  2. Clicking on the eye logo on the left of the layer name toggles the visibility of that layer. If the symbol shows a cross under the eye then that layer is not currently visible.

Note:
Layer visibility only affects the editor – it does not have any effect on the published publication.

  1. The mini-toolbar provides access to some of the more common actions you might want to perform with layers. The Layer commands are explained in detail on the Layer menu help pages.
