The Texture Effect

Texture is one of the options in the Category list on the Effects tab in an object’s Properties dialog box.

This effect allows you to apply a texture to an object on your page. You can change the way the texture is displayed in the object or the type of reflection used by the texture.

For example, this is a circle created with the Draw tool:

A Ceramic texture has been applied to the circle, with different options set for it. Please note: This is only one of over 30 textures to choose from.

To edit the settings for the Texture effect:

  1. Click on the Stretched option in the Mode panel if you want to use one instance of the texture that is stretched to the size of the object.

  2. Click on the Tiled option in the Mode panel if you want the texture to be tiled over and over again to fill the size of the object.

Note:
Normally the texture images are small and the Tile option is set by default, although you can change it to Stretched if required.

  1. Click on the down button beside the Shininess box to select the reflective quality for the texture. A list of reflective attributes will appear.

  2. Click on the Invert Texture option if you want the original texture image to be reversed out.

  3. Click on the Preview option if you want to see a thumbnail version in the tab as you are setting your options.

  4. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
