Converting Text to a Vector

You can convert any text in a Text object a vector. This means you can create text and format it using the Format toolbar and then convert the text to a Draw object that you can then reshape. This is particularly useful if you want to create an interesting visual effect with your text – you stretch it, skew it, add gradient fills to each letter and much more.

Note:
Once you have converted a Text object to a vector it becomes a Draw object. This means you cannot format the text using the Format toolbar or retype the text that has been converted.

To convert Text to a Vector:

  1. Create a Text box on the page and add your text.

  2. Format the text so it uses the correct font and justification and other formatting.

  3. Right-click on the Text object to open the right-click menu, select the Convert To… menu and then select the Vector option – this will convert the Text object to a Draw object.

Note:
Each letter in the original Text object is now a separate vector in a Draw object.

  1. The new Draw object can be reshaped like any other vector – see Editing your Drawn Objects for more information.
