Preload Resource Action

image\Actions_Preload_Resource.jpg

The Preload Resources action allows you to access graphic images and load them into memory before they are required – this is known as Preloading the resource. Normally, in Opus a resource is only loaded (i.e. accessed by the system) when it is required, however, for large files this can be a problem. This is especially so if a series of resources, such as high quality images, are displayed rapidly on screen with various Transition effects. During the display you may notice that the timing is not quite right. This action is therefore particularly useful because you can preload resources and have them in memory before they are required – so when they are required they will appear instantly.

Note:
This action will only preload image resources (e.g. BMP, PNG, JPG, EMV, etc)

Setting up the Preload Resource action:

1. Add the Preload Resource action to your trigger, as described in adding in adding actions. The Preload Resource tab will automatically appear when you add the action.

2. Click on the Add button to open the Open dialog and locate the image or images you want to preload. These will be added to the Resources list.

Note:

In the Open dialog hold down the Shift key as you select the top and bottom image if you want to add a range of images. Alternatively, hold down the Ctrl key if you want to add several individual images.

3. If you want to remove an image from the Resources list, select the resource in the list then click on the Delete button.

Note:
In the Resources list hold down the Shift key as you select the top and bottom image if you want to add a range of images. Alternatively, hold down the Ctrl key if you want to add several individual images

4. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.

Note:
Each object you add to a page in a publication has a Resources tab in its objects Properties dialog – you can use this tab to preload an individual resource.
