Launch Web Page Action

This action is used to launch the user’s default web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and connects to the page you have specified in this action. The page can either be a page on the Internet or simply an HTML page on your computer or local network.

Setting up the Launch Web Page action:

1. Add the Launch Web Page action to your trigger, as described in adding actions. The Launch Web Page tab will automatically appear when you add the action.

2. In the Address box enter the URL of the page you want to open. Use the Browse… button to search for a web page on your computer.

Note:
When the user activates this action, the system will attempt to work out if this file is located on the web or from the hard disk of your computer. However, if you want, you can explicitly state where it should look for the URL in the Address box– choosing the correct URL protocol.

3. Use the Insert Variable button if you want to add a variable containing a URL – the variable name selected will appear in the Address box. Alternatively, if you have not yet created the variable, then click on the New Variable button to open the New Variable dialog.

Note:
Being able to enter a variable allows greater flexibility to this action as the one action could launch different web pages depending on the current content of the variable. This means a user can input a URL that can be saved to a variable and used by this action.

4. Use the Destination Frame panel to open the URL in a particular frame of a frameset in a web browser window. Click on the down arrow to the right of this option to select the name of the frame. Alternatively, if you have created a frameset with a different frame name, simply type the name of the frame in the box. By default the _blank option is selected – this will open the URL in a new browser window.

Note:
This option is used when you intend to publish to the web or use Opus Flex.

The drop down list contains the standard names given to framesets (see Destination Frames and Framesets for more information).

5. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
