The Change Volume action allows you to change the volume of a sound file or CD track. This action can be used to increase or decrease the volume.

Setting up the Change Volume action:

1. Add the Change Volume action to your trigger, as described in adding actions. The Change Volume tab will automatically appear when you add the action.

2. Click on the Set to value option if you want to set the volume to a specific amount. Use the spin buttons to set the volume percentage.

Note:
A value of 100% will play the original sound file at its full volume – this may be different from one file to another. To make all sound files the same volume you should use an audio editor such as Adobe Audition and perform a batch Normalize.

A value set to 0% will make no sound.

3. Click on the Adjust by option if you want to increase or decrease the volume by a specific amount from its current volume. Use the spin buttons to set the volume percentage.

4. Click on the To Variable option if you want to set the sound to a value contained in a variable. Click on the down arrow to the right of the To Variable option and select the name of the variable from the list. Alternatively click on the New… button to open the New Variable dialog.

Note:
The value contained in the variable must be a number e.g. 10 and not text e.g. ‘ten’ or ‘10%’.

5. Use the spin buttons in Fade Time to set the length over which the sound will fade in. By default this is set to 0 seconds.

6. Click on the All Wave sounds if you want to apply the volume change to all Wave (.WAV format files) sounds that are currently playing or will be played in the future.

7. Click on the Channel option if you want to change the volume of only one channel. When you select this option, the Channel list becomes active, then select one of the channel numbers from the list.

8. Click on the Midi option if you want to change the volume of only the Midi sound files.

9. Click on the CD Audio option if you want to change the volume of only the CD Audio sound files.

10. Click on the Sound file option if you want to change the volume of a specific sound file on this page. When you select this option, the sounds file list becomes active, then select the sound file from the list that you want to change the volume of.

11. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
