Text that appears either in a Text or Button object is automatically set to use Anti-aliasing. However, this is an option that you can change either for an individual object or for every new Text or Button object you draw on a page in your publication.
None – this turns of all anti-aliasing for every font size.
Auto – this option will turn off anti-aliasing for fonts of 14pt or lower. Point sizes larger than 14pt are anti-aliased.
Level 1 – this option will anti-alias all fonts at all sizes. This is the standard default for Opus.
Level 2 – this option will anti-alias all fonts at all sizes with maximum accuracy. This can result in slightly blurred fonts but text will look better when animated or rotated.
Note:
When using very small fonts (i.e. 6 to 9pt), anti-aliasing can give the impression that the text is blurred. If your publication uses small points for most of its work, we recommend you test your publication on an end-user machine as early as possible to see if text is noticeably blurry. If it is, you may want to use the None or Auto option.
If you switch from anti-aliased text to non-anti-aliased text, this may lead to a change in the formatting of the text currently in the Text object. Make sure you check the Text objects that may have been affected.
The Outline, Aspect justify and Density justification modes will not work for non anti-aliased text (i.e. the None and Auto options).
Note:
For Flash output using the Flex publication type you have a different set of options to support the different text types in Flash and to switch on Flash Type support for superior-quality display of text.
Double-click on the Text or Button object you want to change – this will open the object’s Properties dialog.
Click on the Text tab in the Properties dialog.
Use the Anti-aliasing panel to select the anti-aliasing style you want to use. There are four options: None, Auto, Level 1 and Level 2. Click on the radio button beside the option you want to use.
Note:
This will only change the anti-aliasing style for this object. New Text or Button objects will still use the option set in the Default Font page in the Options dialog.
Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
Select Options from the Tools menu at the top of the Opus Editor – this will open the Options dialog.
Select the Default Font page in the Options Organiser on the left-hand side of the Options dialog – this will open the Default Font page in the right-hand side of the Options dialog.
Use the Anti-aliasing panel to select the anti-aliasing style you want to use. There are four options: None, Auto, Level 1 and Level 2. Click on the radio button beside the option you want to use.
Note:
This will change the anti-aliasing style for any new Text or Button object you draw on a page in the current publication and any subsequent new publications you create in the Opus Editor. When you exit the Opus Editor, the settings in the Options dialog are saved. Therefore, when you next open the Opus Editor, the last setting you made will still be used.
Click on the OK button to save your changes and to close the Options dialog.
