When laying out publications it can be helpful to have rulers and guides to ensure consistent layout and to aid the alignment of page elements.
1: Select Rulers & Guides from the View menu, or press Shift+F9.
2: To reverse the setting, simply repeat the process.
1: Select Options from the Tools menu.
2: Select the Grid & Outline tab on the Options dialog that appears.
Move the mouse cursor over one of the page rulers: To add a horizontal guide click in the top ruler. To add a vertical guide click in the left ruler. Press and hold the left mouse button.
Drag the guide onto the page. Note that the status bar will provide accurate position information for the guide as you drag it.
Release the left mouse button and the guide will be inserted at the drop position.
Move the mouse cursor over the guide line you want to remove. Press and hold the left mouse button.
Drag the guide off the page and outside the current view.
Release the left mouse button and the guide will be removed.
