Viewing your Publication

You can preview your publication/publication at any time while you are editing it. You can either preview the whole publication or just the page you are working on.

When you do so you will notice a small dialog appears with a timer running this is the Event Timer and helps you mark specific moments in your publication for timing and synchronisation purposes.

To preview the publication from the beginning:

  1. Click the Preview Publication button image\Icon_Tool_Preview_Publication.jpg on the main toolbar or press the F4 key.

  2. Your publication will now display exactly as it will appear when published.

  3. To stop the preview and return to the editor, simply press the Esc key.

To preview the publication at the page on which you are working:

  1. Click the Preview Page button image\Icon_Tool_Preview_Page.jpg on the main toolbar or press the F5 key.

  2. Your publication will now display exactly as it will appear when published.

  3. To stop the preview and return to the editor, press the Esc key.

Showing your publication to others:

  1. You can show your publication to other people by using the Preview options above. However you can also view and show your publication by creating a version that runs entirely independently of the Opus Editor.

  2. This is called Publishing and builds your publication into a self-contained program which runs just like any other program and can therefore be distributed and installed on computers that don’t have Opus. You can even create an installation program for it, which will install an icon onto the desktop.

  3. When you have finalised your publication, we recommend you use a published version to show others, as it will run more smoothly and efficiently and is specially designed to give consistent results on the widest possible range of computers, including laptops.

  4. The Run last published option in the Publication menu at the top of the Opus Editor allows you to run the last version of the publication you created.
