System Requirements

The Opus editor and the publications it creates are compatible with Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT4, Vista and Windows 7 and 8

It uses DirectX™ technology where that is available and we recommend that DirectX™ is specified as a minimum requirement for publications as they will be much more effective with DirectX™ than without.

Although the Opus Editor will work on any machine compatible with these operating systems, it needs a good Pentium II machine to perform well. We also recommend that the Editor will be most comfortable to work with in a screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater. If you wish to run in 800x600 you may need to customise the toolbars to fit and if you have to run in 640x480 you will need to use the full-screen editing mode as much as possible.

Both the editor and the publications it creates are optimised for high-colour modes.

We strongly recommend you install Microsoft’s Media Player (or DirectX™ Media), which will considerably enhance the playback of MPEG and AVIs. You and your users will need to install QuickTime 4 or better to enjoy QuickTime support in the program or your publications.

You and your users will need the Flash Player installed to playback Flash movies or Flash video. Similarly a browser capable of supporting HTML5 is required for previewing HTML5 publications.

The DocView object will view only those programs for which active viewing software is installed. For instance, it will view QuickTime files on any system with QuickTime installed. Microsoft Office documents will display on any computer on which an appropriate version of Office is installed.
