Check Resources

The Check Resources tool allows you to search the whole publication for objects that cannot find their resources. In other words it searches for missing resources, that is, objects that use a resource but cannot find it.

For example, if an Image object named Photo uses the resource family.JPG but for some reason the family.JPG resource is not available, such as, it has been deleted from your system, then the Check Resources tool will list family.JPG as a missing resource.

The Check Resources tool is useful to check that all resources are attached to objects before you create a published version of your publication.

Note:
When you first open a publication in Opus, the system will automatically check resources and will tell you if any are missing. You can search for missing resources using the Resource Manager.

The Check Resources tool appears in two menus at the top of the Opus Editor:

The Check Resources tool works in the same way for both publications and galleries, below is a description for the publication option only.

Note:
For a full explanation of what resources are and how they are used in Opus and why you should consolidate resources – see Using Resources for more information.

Using the Check Resources tool:

  1. Select Check Resources from the Publication menu – this will open the Checking Resources dialog.

  2. The Checking Resources dialog will list all resources that are missing in your publication. Click on the OK button to close the dialog

Note:
Most times this list will be blank. Also, when you open a publication in the Opus Editor, the system will also check for missing resources and will report these as well. Missing resources normally only happen if you decided not to consolidate resources.

  1. To find missing resources, select Resource Manager from the Tools menu – this will open the Resource Manager window listing the folder where the object using the resource thinks the resource file ought to be.

  2. The Organiser in the Resource Manager window shows the folder where resources are. If the folder icon looks like this image\Resource_Check_Icon_Warning.jpg then it indicates a warning that a resource cannot be found. A missing resource file is indicated in the Resource pane by a cross in a red circle e.g. for a missing movie resource the icon is image\Resource_Check_Icon_Missing_Video.jpg.
