General tab (Publication)

The General tab in the Publication Properties dialog allows you to set general settings for the whole of the publication.

To edit the General tab settings:

  1. Use the Publication Title box to type the name you want to give to the publication. When you first create a publication, this is given a default name e.g. Untitiled1.

Note:
Below the box is a Filename box containing the pathname of the saved publication on your computer. If you have not yet saved the publication, the name of the IMP file is shown instead e.g. Untitled1.imp.

  1. Use the Consolidate resources to box to change the name of the folder in which resources used in your publication will be saved to. By default, the system will save your resources to the Resource folder, for example if your publication is called Tutorial, the system will create a Tutorial Resource folder in which the resources are saved when you save your publication or use the Consolidate option in the Publication menu.

Note:
You can change the name of the resource folder at any time by clicking on the Change button, this will open the Consolidate Resources dialog box in which you can type a new name for the resource folder – see Consolidating Resources for more information.

  1. Use the Consolidate resources on save panel to set when resources should be added (i.e. consolidated) to the resource folder. There are three options: Always, which consolidates resources every time you save; Ask, which displays a message box when you save asking you if you want to consolidate your resources; Never, which does not add resources or prompt you to add resources when you save. By default, the Ask option is selected.

Note:
Consolidating your resources regularly is an important housekeeping task when building publications and should be done regularly. We recommend you use the default option Ask unless there are specific reasons why you should not.

  1. Use the Password Protection option if you want to set a password so that unauthorised users cannot open this publication in the Opus Editor window. Click on the Change… button to set the password, this will open the Publication Password dialog. The password will be displayed in the Password box as a line of asterisks (i.e. the * character).

Note:
The next time you attempt to open the publication in the Opus Editor you will be prompted to enter the password. If you provide the correct password, the publication is opened as per normal, if the password is incorrect, the publication will not open.

  1. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.
