Overview of Chapter Properties

Every page you add to your publication is added to a Chapter. Just like objects and pages, Chapters also have properties. The Chapter Properties dialog box contains two tabs:

Note:
Every page in a chapter can look entirely different in appearance; however, the size and location of pages within a chapter are the same and set using the Chapter Properties dialog.

To open the Chapter Properties dialog:

  1. Click the name of the chapter in the Objects tab of the Organiser and press Ctrl+R to open the Chapter Properties dialog.

  2. Click the Tab heading in the Chapter Properties dialog that you want to change, then make your changes and click on the Apply button to save your changes.

Note:
There are two reasons why you may add chapters to your publication:

(i)  To split your publication into discrete topics – in this case all pages may be the same size and displayed in the Main Publication Window. The reason for chapters in this scenario is to help you organise your publication as you are developing.

(ii) To create popup windows – you must use different chapters in a publication when you want pages of different sizes or to appear in windows other than the Main Publication Window.

Furthermore, you may want to have popup windows and organise your publication into discrete topics, in which case, you would use a combination of the reasons explained above.

Moving Between Property Dialogs

A small toolbar is now provided in the bottom left of all Property dialogs which allows you to quickly move between different levels of Property dialogs without using the menu. Thus you can jump from Page to Chapter or Publication Properties. Or you can move around the objects in the Organiser without leaving the Properties dialog.
