Voxware Toolkit

The Voxware Compression Toolkit is an audio codec that was provided with some older releases of Windows Media Player (versions 9 and upward do not include this codec). Unfortunately the codec causes stability issues when it is accessed from the standard codec enumeration system. For this reason Opus detects and disables the Voxware codecs while a Video Creator publication is being edited.

To permanently disable the Voxware Toolkit:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Usually found in the Start menu, Settings section).

  2. Open the Sounds and Audio Devices category.

  3. Select the Hardware tab

  4. Select Audio Codecs in the list at the top of the tab and then click the Properties button.

  5. Select the Properties tab in the dialog that appears

  6. Select the Voxware Compression Toolkit in the list and then click the Properties button.

  7. Select Do not use this audio codec and click OK.

  8. Click OK on the two parent dialogs.

  9. If you ever need to renable the Voxware Compression Toolkit, simply repeat this process and select Use this codec.
