More Defaults

The More Default page in the Options dialog allows you to set the default style and colours used for new button objects.

Note:
Changing these settings will not change any existing buttons. It will only affect newly created buttons. To change existing buttons you can multi-select all the buttons on a page and change their style.

To edit the More Defaults page settings:

1. The Theme combo box allows you to choose the style used to draw the button:

Traditional – the original Opus button style, modelled on the standard Windows 95 buttons.

Modern XP – mimics the default Windows XP button styling

Modern Smooth – similar to the XP style but with a smooth gradient rather than a bevelled appearance.

Windows Theme – allows the button to use whatever Windows setting is being used on the user’s computer. This will use XP buttons in Silver or Blue for example or Vista style buttons on Vista systems. As the designer you have no control over what the buttons will ultimately look like so these are best kept for basic controls.

2. To change the default Surface colour, click on the down button and select a colour from the drop down colour well.

Modern themes have only two additional settings:

3. The hot colour is that used to highlight the button when the mouse cursor is over it. To change the default Hot colour, click on the down button and select a colour from the drop down colour well.

4. To change the default Border colour, click on the down button and select a colour from the drop down colour well.

The Traditional theme has a number of settings available:

5. To change the default Light bevel colour, click on the down button and select a colour from the drop down colour well.

6. To change the default Dark bevel colour, click on the down button and select a colour from the drop down colour well.

7. To change the default width of the bevel, click on the spin buttons beside the Bevel width option to increase or decrease the width one pixel at a time.

8. To change the default transparency of the bevel, click on the spin buttons beside the Bevel transparency option to increase or decrease the level of transparency.

9. Click on the Add black outline if you want to add a simple black outline to the whole button.

Note:

10. Click the OK button to save your changes.
