Grouping Objects

Opus now provides a different way of grouping objects. In previous versions a group was a series of objects placed in a frame. This option is still available as Group As Frame, but now you can put objects in inert groups.

Grouping objects allows you to put multiple objects in a container and them manipulate and effect the group as a single unit.

When a group is resized the contents of the group are also sized to maintain the relative positions and sizes. This is unlike a normal frame, where resizing the frame does not affect the contents.

Groups also do not restrict the movement of their contents in the editor in the way that frames do. Objects in a group can be dragged anywhere and the group will automatically expand or contract to fit the new position.

Groups cannot have actions or properties but they can be the subject of actions. Thus you can set a group of objects to have a particular background or transition (use the old style frame groups if this is what you want). However, grouped objects can be animated by actions on other objects.
