Evaluation Publication Key Generator utility

If a publication makes use of the evaluation unlocking feature the publication author must be able to create the necessary keys to unlock the publication. In order to generate these keys the publication author needs to use the Evaluation Publication Key Generator utility. This can be found in the Eval Key Gen directory in the main Opus directory (usually C:\Program Files\Opus Pro). A shortcut to the utility is also added to the Start menu Opus group for ease of access.

To generate the code to unlock a user publication:

  1. Run the Evaluation Publication Key Generator utility; either from the Start menu of by launching the executable directly.

  2. Enter the Registration ID for the relevant publication. This is set when you create the publication in the main Opus editor.

  3. Enter the publication code provided to you by the end user of the publication.

  4. Click Generate Unlock Code. The required code will appear in the Unlock Code area. The Copy To Clipboard button allows that value to be quickly copied and then pasted into a registration e-mail of letter to be sent back to the end user.

To unlock an evaluation publication:

  1. When a publication that uses the evaluation unlock feature and the standard dialog is run, the user is presented with a dialog box .

  2. The user sends the given code back to the author of the publication, who then generates an unlock code; as detailed above. This unlock code is then sent back to the end user via whatever mechanism the publication author desires.

  3. The user enters the code into the unlock box and clicks the Unlock button. If the code is correct the user receives a "thank you" message and the publication is then permanently unlocked (for that PC only). If the code is incorrect an error is displayed. The user can recheck their entry and try again or abort the process.
