Introducing Custom Default Objects

Opus Pro allows you to assign your own bespoke designs to be the default objects created when you use the relevant object creation tool from the Tools toolbar. This is a powerful feature which allows improved productivity as you can quickly create objects of a particular design or function. For example, you could set up a button style which includes a specific style and border and then assign this to one of the Default Object settings for the Button tool. Then every button you create can be in this style.

There can be up to five different custom styles for any object tool, plus the Opus preset style.

Once you have assigned bespoke designs to the individual tools you can choose between them simply by clicking on the down arrow beside the tool and then selecting the relevant tool from the flyout toolbar which appears. The toolbar button will change to reflect the new choice and now whenever you use that Object creation tool you will create an object in your custom style.

Once created the object can be edited just like any other.

Creating a default object

  1. Design the object you want and save it to a component gallery. See Using Component Galleries

  2. Click the Components tab in the Organiser and locate the gallery containing your object.

  3. Right-click on the object and choose Set as Default Object from the menu which appears.

  4. A further menu will appear showing the additional toolbar buttons available.

  5. Select the button you want to represent your current choice of bespoke object. If you choose a button which already contains a bespoke object it will be replaced by your current design. In this example a new frame style is being selected for user-defined frame 2.
