Customising the Page Templates

There are likely to be circumstances where you want the page templates provided with Opus Pro to be customised to suit your particular requirements – to meet a company style for example.

Tip:

If you only need to change the fonts used in the templates you can use the Replace Fonts function.

Note:
Some of the page templates (cover pages, intro pages and dividers) are designed with in-built backgrounds to hide the master page style. Double-clicking on the page will allow you to edit this background and NOT the page itself. To do that you will need to select the page in the Organiser and select Properties from the Edit menu or the right mouse menu.

To show the Master Style on these pages you will need to open the publication in Extended mode, select the background object and delete it.

For this reason Opus provides you with a set of Page Templates called Custom. By default it is empty but you can use it to store customised versions of your page templates and access them as you would any other.

To customise an existing template:

1:  Create a new publication in the usual way and add a page to that publication using the Page template you wish to customise.

2:  Edit this page as you require, by adding or adjusting objects. You do not need to add content to the page unless you want this incorporated in the Page Template.

Note:
You can set the font size and style for a text box without actually putting text in it.

To add the customised template to the Custom templates:

  1. With the right mouse button click one the page itself. That is, click somewhere where no other object is or you will select that object and only that will be copied to your template.

  2. A small menu will appear alongside the cursor.

  3. Select the Copy to Gallery option

  4. From the flyout which appears select "Custom".

If you do not have a Custom galley you can add one by using the following procedure:

  1. Select the Components menu and then click New Gallery

  2. Name the new gallery Custom and click Next

  3. Click Next to accept the default gallery location

  4. Select the option to 'Create an empty gallery' and click Next

  5. Click Finish to return to the editor

  6. Now when you create a new publication in Opus and choose a Custom publication this template will be included for you to use as a Master Style in the normal way.

Note:
You can also drag and drop objects in the Organiser between your publication and the Resources Galleries. Drag the object over the tab in the Organiser to switch the palette to the one you require.
